Lyrics:[]

Pretty little mongo
Everybody wants her toilet
Same old story
She don't let no one near it
The way she teases them
It's such a shame
She's got all the huboons
crying her name
Soo Bawls Soo Bawls
She's got 'em howling
She's got 'em growling
(Soo Bawls Soo Bawls)
She's got 'em going clean out of their minds
(Soo Bawls Soo Bawls)
Soo Bawls
Soo Bawls
Ain't a man in town who wouldn't have her for his daughter
They'd all trade their brains for one taste of her toilet water
One Two Three Four Tell the people what she wore
They run in circles trying to call her up
But her phone's been disconnected since she sold her butt

  1. ⦁ In a b/w full page ad illustrated by “Cooke”, Toni Basil appears as “Soo Bawlz”. She crashes through glass and the horizontal slats of a wall-less window blind, with her two leashed poodles:
Advertising “SOO BAWLZ”, “AND HER FOLLIES BIZARRE...”, coming June 9, 16, 23 and 30 to the Fox Venice.
The bottom of the page is captioned: “Will Toni Basil let Soo Bawlz come… this time?”
“Toni Basil IS COMING!”, [advertisement] Slash, Volume 1, Number 11, p.2 (1978, July) [#CirculationZero]

Toni Basil Toni Basil would again embody Soo Bawlz for her debut album Word Of Mouth and the ‘78 ad’s window blind motif would reoccur on the album cover and throughout the Basil-directed video album, as would Soo Bawlz and the poodles:
    ◦ The levitating Venetian window blind is seen in Basil’s videos for “You Gotta Problem” and “Thief On The Loose”.
    ◦ The pink poodles with an “English Saddle Clip" furstyle are played by two dancers in Basil’s “Spacewalkin’ The Dog”, which appeared on Basil’s second BBC special in 1983, and preceded the track’s inclusion on the album “Toni Basil”.

⦁ “Toni Basil is Dance Crazy!”, BAM, (1982, December 3)

“One of the characters in my video, a girl with a pink hoopskirt and poodles, was originally from an early DEVO show. She’s Sueballs, Chinaman’s girlfriend, Chinaman being Jerry’s character opposite BoojiBoy.”
    - Toni Basil (1982)

[⦁ DEVO wrote and played three of the songs appearing on Basil's debut album "Word Of Mouth."]
